The Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE), Prof. Aliyu Muhammadu Bappa has described the Nigeria Certificate of Education (NCE) as a vital stage in the educational development of Nigeria. This assertion was made when the Provost of Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin Dr. AbdulRaheem Yusuf paid a familiarisation visit to the commission as part of his appointments to Commissions and Agencies that have a relationship with the College.

Bappa noted that the NCE Curriculum is tailored to train teachers that take care of the Basic Education Unit of our educational system; hence if they are not well trained we may not get it right.

While describing Kwara, as the cradle of NCE Education in Northern Nigeria, he said the State had produced educators at different levels. Thus it can do but to produce better teachers.

In his congratulatory speech to the Provost, Prof. Bappa implored him to work harder to stay atop noting that getting to the top is not as difficult as maintaining the status. He promised to cooperate and partner with the Provost to ensure that good products emerge from the College.

In his response the Provost Dr. AbdulRaheem Yusuf who described the Executive Secretary as the Provost of Provostspromised not to disappoint the Executive Secretary in particular and the Commission in general. He equally used the opportunity to put forward some requests to the Executive Secretary who promptly granted some and promised to look into the others.

In the Provost’s entourage were the Registrar Alh. Ibrahim A. Abiodun, the Deputy Registrar Office of the Provost who doubles as Head of Corporate Affairs Unit Mr.Lawal, S. Abayomi and the Senior Assistant Registrar Senior Establishment Mr.JibrilJimada
