The Registry staff of Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin organised a send-forth ceremony held on Friday 25th of June 25, 2021 at the College’s Multi-Purpose Hall). It was in honour of the immediate past registrar, Alhaji Ali Abiodun Ibrahim and other Registry staff who recently retired.
The Acting Provost Dr. Ayinla Ahmed Jimoh in his speech appreciated the management team, staff as well as retired staff for their dedication to duty. He added that the power to be remembered for good lies in our individual hands. He thereafter blessed the retirees and wished them good success in all their endeavours.
He further added that the registry staff have made him proud for their great effort toward the success of the programme.
The Acting Registrar Mr. Abayomi Lawal in his speech appreciated all that were present for the ceremony and stated that the event calls for sober reflection in different ways. He added that some were there to be celebrated while some were gone. He further added that those who however have the opportunity to be alive to witness this ceremony must reflect on what has been in the past and what they are going through now. He said that retirement is a thing of joy and he then wished those present a wonderful retirement. He emphasised that those still in service should always be conscious of what would be said of them when they are no more in service.
Mr Lawal further stated that whatever they do will be recorded for or against them. He admonished all the staff that although no one is perfect, we must all strive for the best. He however appreciated the Registry welfare committee and all those who had one way or the other contributed to the success of the programme. He also appreciated all those who have honoured their call and deemed it fit the present for the event.
The chairperson of the Registry Welfare Committee Mrs. E.O. Ogundele in her speech appreciated the college management, all registry staff as well as the immediate past Registrar Mr. A. A. Ibrahim for honouring their invitation. She further added that the ceremony is worth their time and cost. She said while age is just a number, retirement is one of the greatest gifts to mankind. It is the only time in one’s life when time is no longer equal to money. She further said that retirement is not the end of the road, but just a turn in the road. She admonishes them to enjoy the new chapter of their lives and encourage them to their own bosses.
The chairman NASU, Comrade Lanre in his goodwill message appreciated all the registry staff and as well prayed for the retirees.
This was followed by the presentation of gifts to the immediate past registrar Mr. A.A. Ibrahim and other retirees.
The row call was impressive as the whole multipurpose hall was filled to capacity as family and friends of retirees, all registry staff and other staff of the College were present at the epoch-making event.
