PROFILE OF DR. I.S. OPOBIYI THE SIXTH SUBSTANTIVE PROVOST OF THE COLLEGE

Dr. Saka Opobiyi, Provost, Kwara State College of Education, IlorinOpobiyi, Isiaka Saka (PhD), was born on 15th September, 1957 in Kano, the Capital City of Kano State, and Nigeria. He had his secondary Education at Ilorin Grammar School, between 1971 and 1976. As if the secondary qualification was not enough he proceeded to the Kwara State College of Technology, Ilorin between 1976 and 1978, and later to the University of Ilorin between 1979 and 1982. Dr. Opobiyi, I.S. earned general academic qualifications. These academic qualifications in childe First School Learning Certificate (FSLC) in 1976, Higher school certificate (Cambridge), in affiliation with Kwara State College of Technology in 1979, B.sc Chemistry (University of Ilorin) in 1982, post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE), University of Ilorin in 1989, Med Science Education, University of Ilorin, 1997, certificate in e-learning in 2005, certificate in budget process and Administrative [procedure in tertiary Institutions in 2008, certificate in information and communication technology ICT in 2009 and PhD since Education University of Ilorin in 2009.

Dr. Opobiyi I.S. also obtained some professional qualifications and academic namely, member, Chemical Society of Nigeria (CSN) Kwara State Chapter, Member Science Teacher Association of Nigeria (STAN), Kwara State Chapter, Adviser, since students Association of Nigeria (TRC) Kwara State member, Teacher Registration Council of Nigeria (TRC) Kwara State Nominees of Nigeria Selfless service could Award "our Majesty Global Publication" Nominee of Institute of Human and Nation-Resources for the Award of "Pillar of National-Building for Kwara State" As follow of Human and National resource held on the 8th May, 2009 at Stella Obasanjo Multipurpose Centre, Ilorin, Kwara State and Nominee of "Development in Nigeria Merit Award" (AINMA) at Lade Hall, Abuja Sheraton Hotel and towers, Abuja on 24th July, 2010.

Dr. Opobiyi, I.S. has so many publications to his credit, which include fourteen (14) journal publications Local and International and two published text books one co-authored the other one chapter contribution.

Dr. Opobiyi held many appointments since 1982 to date. These include the compassing National Youth Service at Amoye Grammar School, Ilecere Ekiti, Ekiti State between 1982 and 1983, Kwara State Education Management Board in 1983, Kwara State College of Education Ilorin, from 1992 to date. He is presently the Sixth Substantive Provost of the College Dr. Opobiyi in happily married with a child.

Administrative Structure of the College
The College is a tertiary institution established by Kwara State Government. The Governor of the state is the visitor to the College. Policies affecting the College are normally passed through the Commisioner of Education to the Governing Council. Members of the Governing Council are appointed by the Governor, and they are solely responsible for the smooth running of the college. Their duties include the provision of infrastructures on the campus, the appointment of committees that take care of various administrative machineries of the College.
The Provost is the Chief Executive and the Accounting Officer of the College; he is also the Chief Academic Head. He coordinates the activities of the College machineries, sees to the discipline and welfare of his staff assisted by his Deputy Provosts appointed by the Provost in consultation with the Governing Council. The Deputy Provost normally acts for the Provost in his absence.
The College has a Registrar appointed by the Governing Council and he is responsible for the administrative matters. Other Chief Officers in the institution include the Bursar, the Librarian and the Director of works.
